Dear Reader,

Welcome to the world of book creation! Whether you’re a young budding writer or an adult with stories to share, this workshop will guide you through the process of crafting your very own book. From concept development to sharpening your writing skills, you’ll leave with a stronger understanding and passion for the art of storytelling.

Segment 1: Defining Your Book’s Theme

Objective: To help participants identify and refine their book’s central theme or message.

Activities:

  1. Brainstorming Session: Jot down all potential book ideas.
  2. Group Discussion: Share your ideas and get feedback. Sometimes, just talking about it helps refine the concept.
  3. Mind Mapping: Visualize your thoughts, central theme, and associated ideas.
  4. Storyboarding: Sequence your ideas. For kids, this can be done using drawings or pictures.

Activities: Participants will have the opportunity to try one of two forms of book mapping. Either Vertical Bullet List or Box List.

Vertical Bullet List Strategy:

  • List a Detail
  • Of Your Story
  • As a Bullet Item
  • That will be in the book
